GLOBE Hydrology Feedback
GLOBE Hydrology Feedback
Welcome to the GLOBE Hydrology Feedback page.
One important job of the GLOBE Hydrology team is to provide
feedback to each school that reports hydrology data. Our feedback comes in the
form of a graph of the school's data, accompanied by written comments
identifying trends, suggesting reasons for changes, and posing questions to
the students.
This feedback serves at least two purposes. First, we hope that it will help
students interpret their data and think about what causes the patterns in
the data. Second, it is part of our quality control effort. We
point out patterns that seem a little unusual, or which are unexplained.
Students should then go back and check these data for correctness and to see
if they can offer an explanation.
The graphs consist of precipitation, air and water temperatures, dissolved
oxygen, alkalinity, electrical conductivity, and surface water pH. All
graphs are updated on a monthly basis.
As of June 16, 1998, we have included written comments for nearly 400 of the
approximately 1,000 schools that have reported hydrology data. We anticipate
that the comments for each school will be revised at least annually. More
frequent feedback will be given for those schools that frequently report most
of the hydrology parameters. Feel free to contact us to follow up on these
data and comments.
Sincerely,
The GLOBE HYDROLOGY FEEDBACK TEAM
