Dr.
Bales, Professor of Hydrology and Water Resources at the University of
Arizona, received his B.S. from Purdue University in 1974, a M.S. from
the University of California, Berkeley in 1975 and his Ph. D. from the
California Institute of Technology in 1985. He worked as a consulting
engineer from 1975 to 1980, and has taught at the University of Arizona
since 1984. He has published extensively in diverse fields of research
including alpine hydrology and biogeochemistry, polar snow and ice, biocolloid
transport in porous media, sorption of organic contaminants, coagulation,
and mineral weathering (list of publications)
